I went with Lenovo
As I've mentioned in my previous posts, i have decided to go back to windows despite a bit of peer pressure looming over my head.
I saw a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 6 for sale in Lazada for 30,000 PHP (~500 USD) and I bought it thinking it was a good deal. Apparently someone can buy it cheaper elsewhere, but I can't find another store that sells it with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of memory.
I just received my new laptop this Monday, and I'm loving it so far.
I like the keyboard. They're not as noisy as my Macbook's.
I like the lightness and compactness. It's 1-in longer than my Macbook, but it definitely felt more compact, and I don't know how to explain it...
I like how the laptop feels on my hand, although, I am not a fan of all the smudges I make around it. My fiancé suggested I buy a sticker protector, and so I did. I'm waiting to receive it sometime next week.
I told my friends about it. How it was probably refurbished, how cute it was, and their faces are not happy at all. As Apple fangirls, their first thought was "Oh, you didn't go for a Pro?" I said, "No, I didn't want something sensitive, I want something I'm not afraid to be using." They responded, "Are you sure? I think a Macbook Pro should be good for you. Its ram is awesome." I said, "Maybe, but I think I'll stick with the Thinkpad for now."
I will give myself a few more months and then compare my experiences. So far, I'm still in the honeymoon phase with it. But I'm glad I'm leaving behind the Apple dependency. After two years of being an iPhone and a Mac user, I realised how much I value freedom, and not having spend so much to do the things I was able to do even with the Apple products.
I did weed out some friends along the way, and I think that's good. I mean, who'd want to be friends with people you can only talk to in an exclusive app? I'm just saying, if I'm your friend, you can text, you can email me, you can Whatsapp me.
