Written Word Vomit

Mac, Windows, Android, iOS

In the midst of a crazy work day, I'm writing this to take a break from overstimulation. I will be getting back in a few minutes.

Now, with the topic of the post, I am writing this article on a MacBook Air M1 2021, which I bought last 2023. A few months ago, I bought a mini PC from Beelink to play games and work.

I was mostly satisfied with my Mac. It was definitely great for working and other creative stuff like editing videos and recording. I do several song covers, and the production for them is one of the main reasons I went with Mac as my main working device. But I started noticing some things that I wished had been better. Like, I wished I could connect two monitors to my laptop, or that I can install .exe files, or that I can have a higher storage without paying too much, lastly, that I could play video games with my friends. With those being said, I bought me an affordable Windows PC that I could use for gaming and to maximise screens!

After a few weeks of using both, I definitely have the affinity for my Windows PC for most things. Maybe because I've used Windows for the majority of my life, but everything is just simple in Windows. I know where to find my files, I know where to put things, I know how to change things.

With Mac, I still get confused every now and then. I, however, love the Spotlight and the text replacements, and I use them on a regular basis! I also love the UI of my MacBook. Something about it screams "professional." Probably because I used Mac for my longest work ever (I worked at a translation company for 3 years, and we had to use Mac. Yes, 3 years was my longest.)

Now, which one will I keep? I'm actually keeping them both. I use the Windows PC as my main PC for working, gaming, and entertainment. My MacBook comes with me on my travels, and is my buddy for writing (like now), and audio recording.

If in the future, I would see the need to upgrade my laptop, I would definitely consider going for a Mac again while keeping a Windows PC.

My Mac is the only Apple product I own now. I used to have an iPhone but I swapped it for a Galaxy Z Flip 7. The first ever "up-to-date" phone I bought in my life. I usually go for old models because they're cheaper, but I had the audacity and the budget this year, so I went for it.

The first and only iPhone I had is an iPhone 13. I bought it the same year I had the MacBook. It was a refreshing phone, it was a phone. I loved the seamless communication between the Mac and the iPhone, and how easily it connects with my friends' phones through AirDrop.

While in the Philippines, I felt like the iPhone was in the best decision. All of my friends were using an iPhone, and if you need to contact someone from a different country, you can contact them through iMessage without a sweat, it worked wonders!

Then, I left the PH to live in another continent for almost a year, and damn, my iPhone didn't matter as much. Everyone was talking through WhatsApp, and everyone was living through Android and Google Apps. They couldn't care less if you have an Apple.

It got me thinking about the huge possibility I may have been swayed by peer pressure. All of my friends have an Apple, maybe I should have one too. But, that would mean I'd be paying enormous amount of money to keep up with people around me, and I have no means, nor necessity to do that.

Now that I'm using Samsung, I have to admit, it has been harder to try and reach my friends who I used to contact in iMessage a lot. Sometimes, it makes me think of getting another iPhone - but that's bullshit. If a friend is a friend, you can reach them however means possible. Use a phone that supports your life, whatever OS that is. Make sure to evaluate all aspects necessary before making a purchase.
